RET Interieur offers interior designers more and more opportunities to use natural and reclaimed materials. This is possible with materials such as ESB Eco, Vita Spruce and MDF Biosbased, as well as with Kronospan's collection of decorative board material. "Our range is growing in sheet material, which is completely in line with the need for sustainable and circular construction," says Thorvald van Ooik, Product Manager RET Interieur.
One of the new boards is Elka Strong Board (ESB Eco). The product is similar to OSB and particle board, but is made from 100% new spruce wood chips sourced from sawmills. Regular OSB is usually made from a mix of woods with lots of pine and naturally contains more resin and therefore two to three times more formaldehyde. So ESB guarantees healthier air quality. ESB Eco is a new variant in the market and a sustainable alternative to chipboard P5 and OSB3. Not only because of its climate-neutral production, but also because of its more vapor-open character (constructions can breathe better).
RET Interieur has also included MDF Biobased in its range. This board is suitable for those looking for material with no added formaldehyde at all. In fact, the bonding is a completely vegetable one. MDF Biobased is made from 100% reclaimed wood and is suitable for interior design and furniture production. The board can be painted or finished with paper, foil, melamine, veneer or HPL and is also suitable for use under load (service class 1).
The new Vita three-ply spruce panel has a minimum VOC and formaldehyde value below 0.03 ppm (70% lower than European standard) and higher stiffness and flexural strength (longitudinal) than spruce underlayment. Therefore, according to RET, this material ideally fits the bill for environmentally conscious solutions for interior projects where a healthier indoor environment is desired.
Collecting, reusing and recycling are not words, but deeds at Kronospan. For example, this international manufacturer in decorative board material uses recycled wood in their production. The company also invests heavily in creating renewable energy through combined heat and power plants, solar panels, its own wind farms and hydroelectric plants.
"Kronospan was primarily known for its 'German solidity' but is growing in popularity with interior design professionals in the Netherlands. The current, strikingly beautiful collection: Global 3.0 consists of melaminated and HPL sheet material as well as Slim Line worktops for interior projects. With a new quality standard in synchronous structure and beautiful linen, stone and metal decors. The collection is easily combined with a refreshing uni color palette, finished in an updated matting."
Incidentally, RET Interieur purchases only wood-based board material with an FSC or PEFC certificate. "An important objective within our business and milestone that we are extremely proud of," says Van Ooik. "Together we are building a sustainable future. With wood from responsibly managed forests and the preservation of valuable ecosystems!"
Kronospan's updated panel range and complete collection of decorative board material are in stock and exclusively available from RET Interieur in Utrecht.
