A few years ago, when customers increasingly asked for lightweight board material, this veneer specialist decided to develop its own solution: it became Queenply. After all, adjustable desk bases promote productivity and health. This new lightweight plywood panel has a multi-layer construction that has been on the market for about two years now.

"A lightweight board is a huge advantage for many interior builders," explains Thijs Haarhuis of Kuiper Holland. "Of course, stability is essential in this, but with a core weight of 350 kilograms per cubic meter, that aspect is certainly adequately covered." According to Haarhuis, the stability of the structure is assured because the slab is composed of several layers. "They are closed thin layers, with no knots in the core. That makes this material extra stable."

Especially in yacht building they use Queenply a lot, but we also see this lightweight sheet material frequently in the production of motor homes. Haarhuis: "In yacht building, they are always looking for solutions to save weight. Moisture-resistant bonding is also important for this group. When fitting out motor homes, we increasingly see people buying a bus and converting it into a camper. In doing so, they have to take insurance considerations into account road weight and a number of other issues. This is why lightweight plates are important for this group. But actually in all types of construction where weight is an essential issue, we find that interior builders choose this plate solution. Even in regular construction projects of homes or offices."

Queenply comes from a factory in Indonesia. The boards are made from Albasia wood from responsible forest areas where they also plant several new trees for every tree felled. The size of the board is 250 by 122 centimeters and is available in different thicknesses: 3, 4, 6, 8,9, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20 and 22 millimeters.
