Special laminates from German manufacturer go for exclusivity and luxury feel

Since this year, Arpa Netherlands has added the beautiful metal laminates of Homapal, originally from Germany, to its ever-growing assortment. Speaking is Wendy Kap of Arpa, responsible for marketing and communications.

"Homapal stands for a luxurious and exclusive look and has been around since 1952. From its inception, the company has grown to become one of the largest manufacturers of specialty laminates. Per year they produce no less than 7 million m2 of sheet material and the collection includes no less than 140 different decors with 26 different finishes and also available in 3 different formats," Wendy explains. "So applications abound! Whether it's a chic reception desk in a hotel. Or a detail in the bar of a trendy restaurant. But it also involves - for example - an exclusive look for an office by applying Homapal as a wall covering. As I said, the possibilities are endless!"

There are 5 different product groups within Homapal:

Wendy says, "The Elements series represents the four elements of water, fire, air and earth. The series has five different surface finishes: brushed, crossbrushed, plain polished, mirror polished and plex. Through a dynamic play of light and reflection, the (living) experiences in indoor spaces are enriched with feelings of warmth."

"With the Gestures series, each surface is unique. Here, each plate is expertly handcrafted and each one is different. The techniques of grinding, dabbing, intensifying colors, brushing and polishing are artfully applied by hand to the metals to create a piece of art." 

"The Perspectives series invites you to touch. Depths, lines and geometric patterns make the surfaces vibrant and exciting. Imaginative settings with high appeal is perhaps the best description for this series, which consists of 3 character features. For example depths; everything here seems to be in motion and with geometries you come to rest because of the balanced and regular lines. The light makes these decors playful because this light makes the lines stand out or not. Industrial decors takes its inspiration from factory halls with textures of steel plates, grinding and salvage marks." 

"SRM stands for scratch resistant matt. With the arrival of this series, there is now the possibility to complement the vertical application with a horizontal application."

"In the Magnetic and boards, magnetic forces are combined with writable surfaces. These are perfect for (product) presentations or convenient for private use. Using this material hybridly in spaces creates ultimate flexibility. The boards can be written on with whiteboard markers and because of the strong magnetic iron foil that has been used, the board is not only suitable for light papers and tools but even heavier items can be applied such as, for example, spice cabinets in the kitchen or magnetic shelves for presentations."

So, according to Wendy, this range allows us to look very broadly at different applications. From vertical- to nowadays so even horizontal surfaces. "Moreover, Homapal can be perfectly combined with one of our other products such as FENIX. But Homapal also matches beautifully with the warm look of Arpa's latest HPL: TUET. This deep surface laminate is available in two beautiful wood colors." 

During Architect@Work in Amsterdam, Arpa, together with sister company Formica, introduced visitors to Homapal. Wendy: "We can say that these were pleasant encounters. We were showered with very enthusiastic reactions. The appeal of the booth was obvious. Homapal attracts like a magnet!"
