Sleek double aluminum pivot door with side lights for prestigious lodge in soccer stadium

The Frits Philips Lounge in the Philips Stadium of Eredivisie soccer club PSV Eindhoven received a makeover. Interior architect KRAGT drew the design, which was realized by BER Bouw En Renovatie. On behalf of the contractor, Mondana Nederland BV integrated a double interior door with a minimalist design. They used the system of Interior Aluminium Doors (IDA), part of Aliplast Aluminium Systems. This Belgian specialist continues to innovate and has developed the FR90, a thermally insulated fire-resistant interior door that meets the most stringent fire resistance requirements.

The Frits Philips lounge is a multifunctional space in the stadium of soccer club PSV Eindhoven, where business relations should feel at home in a pleasant and casual atmosphere. In the look & feel of the renewed interior, interior designer KRAGT brought back the Philips corporate identity and the company's well-known shield also has a prominent place there. Local construction company BER Bouw En Renovatie was commissioned to realize the design. For the production and assembly of the interior doors, the contractor called on Mondana Nederland BV. This company specializes in aluminum windows and doors, sliding and folding doors, skylights, curtain walls and interior doors. 

"Our partner from Veghel integrated a double pivot door with sidelights, finished in a black textured paint. They used our Interior Doors Aluminum solutions: minimalist interior doors and walls with the appearance of steel, but in aluminum," says Marc Mulders, sales manager for the Netherlands at Aliplast. 

"Many clients - both in private homes and projects - dream of robust steel interior doors, but the budget often puts them off. With the development of the IDA system, we are responding to the increasing demand for a price-conscious alternative. This solution - three times lighter than steel and slimmer than a wooden interior door - can be used for hinged doors with visible or invisible hinges, for pivoting doors, for single and double doors. It can also be used for fixed walls. These aluminum interior doors catch the eye thanks to the specially designed powder coating with hammered effect, which provides an industrial look. They are available in a wide range of colors and textures, so they can always be adapted to the color palette of the interior. In addition, customers enjoy a standard 15-year warranty on the paintwork. They are assembled in the workshop or on site, which is especially convenient for larger elements."

Aliplast, meanwhile, remains heavily committed to developing innovative solutions. For example, this specialist is confronted daily with fire resistance requirements. 

"Fire safety is an important issue, which must be taken into account in design. Many architects, contractors and clients look for solutions in wood or steel, but with our aluminum profiles we can achieve the same values. Our systems are subjected to the most stringent tests. They are available in fire resistance classes EW30, EW60, EI30, EI60, some even in classes EI90 and EI120″, indicates Mulders. 

"For example, we successfully had our thermally insulated FR90 tested as a fire-resistant interior door at the IFT in Rosenheim. This easy-to-install system can be used for single or double doors, turning inward or outward, and is available in fire resistance classes EW30, EW60, EI30 and EI60. This FR 90 is therefore excellent for escape routes in buildings, where everything must be fire resistant."
