Felder's Creator 950 is a CNC machine often chosen by relatively small-scale workshops. It is a compact version of the more elaborate version: the CNC with consoles.
Erik van den Bosch and Jan van den Brink of Elusso BV, a partnership between Van den Bosch Interieurs and Interieur JAN, also found that out. The two companies have been working together for some time and decided a year ago to join forces for good. The result: more orders and thus the choice for a new, modern CNC machine.
"We provide all forms of interior work and make everything to order," Van den Bosch said. "Mainly private individuals, but sometimes it involves orders for companies." The reason for purchasing a new machine was both renewal and expansion. As mentioned, the two parties had been working together for some time, but the final merger called for an upgrade of the machinery. After visiting HoutPro+ in November 2022, it was soon clear that the choice would fall on the Dutch subsidiary of the Felder Group, Van Schoonhoven in Barneveld. "We already had several Felder machines in use, the service was always excellent and the contact at the fair was also excellent. Moreover, a type of machine we had in mind was on display at the booth. A stand alone CNC machine and ideal for a relatively small workshop as in our situation."
Looking further at other suppliers was not necessary, according to Van den Bosch. It was not only the choice of machine, but also the pleasant cooperation from the past with Van Schoonhoven that was partly decisive. "Moreover, they respond quickly to questions or a possible breakdown and are familiar with our working methods."
The Creator 950 is a CNC machine that allows, among other things, machining and milling on four sides. It is also equipped with a tool changer and can perform machining operations with interior parts with a width of up to 950 millimeters and infinite length. In short: a small machine with big possibilities. This model features modern CNC technology and is relatively easy to adapt to specific requirements with individual equipment.
What wishes were there from the team at Elusso Interiors? "Certainly the special method of milling was important to us," explains Van den Bosch. "Think of the independent placement of fittings and connectors. In addition, it is possible to control the Creator 950 with PaletteCAD software, a design program specifically for CNC machines. After all, this is a process where precise work is a requirement."
The Elusso team chose the machine that was on display during HoutPro+. Van Schoonhoven was able to deliver it quickly. "They made the machine ready for use, assembled it at our place and provided related training. PaletteCAD also did a two-day introductory course. On the first day that we started using the CNC machine, an engineer from Felder still watched with us to give advice and adjust settings if necessary."
Even after the introduction, Van Schoonhoven's team continues to follow along and provide the ability to resolve any problems remotely. Van den Bosch is content. "We can work faster and more accurately. But also easier milling. It also saves time and is therefore also financially more advantageous in the long run."
