Efficient, transparent and honest construction; that's what Stamhuis is all about. This experienced retail builder has all disciplines in-house. Think: designers, architects and finishing specialists. But the company also has the right machinery at its disposal.
Their approach makes it possible, for example, to completely remodel a 2,500-square-meter store within one week. "We are a unique company where retail is our core business," Hemke Broersma, manager of finishing & engineering, reveals. "All aspects are covered and prepared in detail: project and design management plus preparatory work such as making design drawings et cetera."
Various retail companies at home and abroad consciously choose Stamhuis' expertise and service: Albert Heijn, Dille & Kamille, Starbucks, 2theloo et cetera. "We are part of the team that handles interior finishing, such as making walls, ceilings and paneling. By making this prefabricated in our own workshop, we create time savings. This keeps the inconvenience to the retailer - such as temporary closure of the store, reduced turnover and customer adjustments - to a minimum. By making all parts to size in advance, they can be assembled quickly on site."
In 2023, Stamhuis decided to expand its machinery. About five years ago, the last investment took place: the purchase of a plate warehouse. According to Broersma, it was time to replace and purchase a new CNC plus edge banding machine. "In the past, we worked with a dividing saw and many operations, such as cutting to size, still took place manually. Thereby it is essential to have skilled personnel in house. Thanks to these new machines, we can further automate some of that work."
Because of good contacts and positive experiences in the past, Molendijk Woodworking Machinery was contacted. About the reason, Broersma is clear. "In terms of advice and service, they are among the absolute top in the Netherlands. Of course, this time we also compared with other machine suppliers. Molendijk supplies reputable brands for a market-based price. In the end, the service aspect was decisive. The lines are short and they respond quickly to questions and possible breakdowns."
Stamhuis opted to purchase new Holz-Her machines: an automatic plate warehouse, two large edge-banding machines equipped with a nesting system plus a five-axis CNC machine. A purchase that positively affects the quality of the work Stamhuis delivers. More and more companies are choosing to purchase an automatic plate warehouse. This speeds up - thanks to fully computer-controlled transport - the production process and therefore prevents the risk of damage to the material. This is because a machine makes fewer mistakes than a human being. This reduces costs, increases production capacity and the purchase pays for itself in the long run. The team at Molendijk Woodworking Machinery ensures that the warehouse is built completely to the customer's requirements.
"Then we come back to the aspect of 'thinking along'. That is where Molendijk knows how to distinguish itself," Broersma emphasizes. The purchase of the five-axis CNC machine offers advantages. Materials are fed through the automatic plate warehouse after which drilling and milling begins. The parts to be machined then come out ready to work. "This machine improves our production process. As a result, less manual work is needed in the workshop. This creates more volume and the customer gets a better finished product. The new edge-trimming machine is the second within the company and is thus an expansion. Because the CNC increases the machining capacity, a larger capacity in edge joining is also needed. After the purchase, a mechanic from Molendijk Woodworking Machinery was present for more than a week for explanations and to answer all questions. It is an investment but the long-term benefits are excellent and Molendijk's specialists are always there for us."
