In the year 2019, the company Tekton in Groot Ammers purchased the first Paul OTT machine in the Netherlands. That was a great first. Paul OTT, a top Austrian brand with international allure, was brought to the Netherlands by Karat Netherlands at that time. They managed the entire process of purchasing this machine under the leadership of Axel V. de Graaf and Jeffrey Bourne.
Tekton was the first company in the Netherlands to purchase a Paul OTT machine from Karat Netherlands. For that reason, the preparation process was crucial. "All the details had to be explained and discussed," Axel says. "After all, for Tekton, purchasing a completely new machine, from a brand they were not yet familiar with, was a big step. Fortunately, due to the many years of cooperation we had with Tekton, there was a good foundation laid for mutual trust. Exactly this aspect proved important within this process."
Finally, in February 2019, the Paul OTT Tornado+ machine was finally delivered and assembled in Groot Ammers. This took place under the guidance of the knowledgeable service engineers of Karat Nederland. So now the machine has been running at Tekton for about four years. According to Jeffrey this has resulted in major steps within the total production process.
"Indeed, OTT's machines are distinguished by several aspects," Jeffrey continued. "The Austrian family company has been a renowned leader in the field of edgebanders for many years. By focusing purely on edgebanders, they have been able to take them to the next level. In addition, the variety of these edgebanding machines allows them to serve the entire market. From the smaller to the larger producers, there is ultimately customization for every kind of company. For example, the machines range from 5 or 6 meters to more elaborate models of 10 meters or more."
For the user, the price/quality ratio of an OTT machine is very attractive. "Due to the solid construction of the machines, a long service life is also guaranteed without compromising the quality of the final product. The machine at Tekton is still in top condition after four years of production," states Jeffrey.
Another reason is that the OTT machines are very user-friendly. The units and their menus are designed to be understandable, making them effortless to operate. You can also easily get into the machine to clean or service it, for example. Chris Murk, director of Tekton, agrees with the above. He also mentions the high flexibility and fixed speed. For example, the machine runs 20 meters per minute, regardless of the operations required. Especially the latter has been of great importance in optimizing the production process.
Through the efforts of Axel and Jeffrey, this has been the start of a beautiful cooperation between Paul OTT and Karat Nederland. "By now there are 28 machines in the Netherlands. Piece by piece purchased and guided with care."
