In the Netherlands, Leitz Service has gained very good experience in recent years in setting up CNC machines for the plastics processing industry, among others. In particular, profiling with the ProfilCut profile system provides good results. For a number of operations of these Advanced Materials, Leitz has developed a wide range of specific tools.
Advanced Materials is a common term, but what does it really mean? At Leitz, they use this term for materials that are not made of wood or wood-based materials. They also have totally different machining properties than usual. Think of materials for cladding, insulation materials, aluminum, plastics and composite materials such as PMMA, HPL, Corian, Acrylic glass and fiber cement.
Advanced materials for cladding or interior construction are extremely versatile in their application, challenging to process, more homogeneous than wood and sometimes very abrasive to the tools. It is not always possible to use a standard tool for processing. Especially in the field of plastics and composite materials, it is important to be alert for processing. Meanwhile, Leitz has launched a number of solutions for challenging materials. We highlight a few of them.
Recently, Leitz presented a tool that is used, among other things, for machining the narrow sides of HPL materials and fiber-reinforced plastics: the Diamaster PLUS Z2 router. Its short, stable cutting area makes it very suitable for the most common sheet thicknesses. Because these compact laminates usually consist of paper or cellulose fibers with melamine and phenolic resin, this often leads to a high degree of tool wear. The Diamaster PLUS Z2 router features a diamond base cutting edge that ensures a very long service life and increased productivity.

The BrillianceCut circular saw blade has proven excellent on the market for processing acrylic glass. When cutting this material, grooving, fusing or chipping often occurs at the edge of the panel. The consequences are additional processing steps to prepare the edge for gluing, polishing or burning off. Thanks to the innovative tooth geometry of BrillianceCut saw blades, users can achieve a perfect cut in finished final quality as early as the parting stage, eliminating the extra machining steps. This allows users to work much more efficiently. The plastic-filled laser ornaments not only reduce noise, but also provide quieter running and greater stability. In addition, the circular saw blade has a long life thanks to its stable tooth geometry and can be re-sharpened up to 20 times.
In industry, aluminum composite panels are often used when there are special requirements for component stability, surface durability or weight reduction. Panels often have different shapes, sizes and properties, making processing often a real challenge. With the RazorCut Plus circular saw blade, users can achieve high cutting speeds to increase productivity, and diamond circular saw blades are characterized by their particularly long service life. The durable Diamaster PRO router is equipped with diamond teeth and offers a long service life even in hard-to-machine materials. Because very high feed rates are possible with this tool, the processing time of individual panels is reduced and thus increases the user's productivity
significantly.
The Leitz program for aluminum composite panels is completed with the Diamaster WhisperCut prism cutter. With this tool, users can work significantly quieter and more energy-efficiently. The multiple regrind tool is particularly suitable for V-grooves with 90° and 135° and delivers perfect cutting results.
