Solid Surface is undergoing tremendous developments. Even in the Netherlands, the material is becoming increasingly popular within the interior landscape. Of course, it was already often used in kitchens and bathrooms, but Solid Surface also offers special and creative possibilities for a wider range of interior elements. Binnenwerk spoke about this with Product Manager Thorvald van Ooijk of RET Interieur, the supplier that brings the Spanish brand Krion Solid Surface to the Dutch market.
Using international projects, Thorvald takes us through the various possibilities of Solid Surface as a material. "With Solid Surface - and Krion in particular - interior designers can realize unique and customized interior concepts. Think retail interiors, cool details for a hospitality project or a reception, where a first impression only gets one chance. Krion Solid Surface has unique properties that allow the creator to give each design and project an authentic and personal signature."
Perhaps one of the most special possibilities of Krion Solid Surface is the creation of light effects with backlighting. "Depending on the thickness and color of the material, our customers can play with light. This makes Krion popular with architects and interior designers," explains Van Ooijk. "Different collections, such as the Light Series, Opale and the Luxury Series (in the colors Nacre and Ivory Beige, based on natural stone), offer unique aesthetic possibilities."
Krion Solid Surface also excels in its thermoformability, allowing the material to be bent and shaped into almost any conceivable shape. Whether flowing, organic shapes or sleek, geometric designs, the possibilities are virtually limitless. "This allows interior designers to think outside the traditional box and create truly unique pieces that can transform and personalize a space."
Van Ooijk: "Another feature of Solid Surface as a material, in which Krion scores highly, is the possibility of seamless bonding. With this you create flowing transitions and can realize real visual spectacles. Combined with the aforementioned properties, this really results in creative freedom for both designer and processor."
Anyone who has an issue in the field of Solid Surface, or wants to think more broadly about materials from a creative design and spar about possibilities, is cordially invited to call on the Krion Quality Members. "We show how the interior designer can get more out of a job or project through collaboration."
