Austrian machine manufacturer creates optimum safety for woodworkers

At the Ligna in 2019, the Felder Group surprised many again with an innovative and revolutionary safety system on the format saw. The first and still unsurpassed non-contact safety system for the format saw was a reality and not much later the first machines were actually delivered. 

We are now 5 years on and there are many hundreds of machines set up satisfactorily at customers around the world. The rollout of the system has successfully started with the premium model of the Format4 line, the kappa550. Within this series all models are optionally equipped with the PCS system.

Since 2024, Format4's new kappa450 series is also available with the PCS system. That already makes the PCS system more attainable for more woodworkers, but after the kappa 550 and 450 series, now the first Felder 900 series format saws have also been delivered with PCS! Thus the system is expanding step by step to the smaller series of the Austrian machine manufacturer's wide delivery program. The goal is to make PCS available to everyone so that safe sawing is a logical choice for the entrepreneur.

Conscious choice of customers

Dondervink from Nijmegen also chose the Felder K945S sawing machine with PCS, a very conscious choice by the three architects who, in addition to their beautiful designs, also realize the design and build together. This helps during the design process to better assess feasibility and learn where to pay extra attention during the construction process. A format saw is extremely important for Dondervink within wood constructions, furniture and interior components. Here, safety was very high on the list in terms of requirements and wishes.

It ended up being a nicely configured machine with a top control for the parallel stop and electric height and angle adjustment of the saw blade for optimum control in more complex wood joints and other cutting work. A heavy-duty saw motor also means that at full sawing height of as much as 155mm, there is still plenty of power available for cutting del for wood structures. 

The machine offers a piece of mind to users, especially when cutting under miter. Of course, the basics have to be right, and that is certainly the case with the redesigned 900 Series saw unit. Stably suspended in an Easy-Glide guide, the saw swings free of play and low maintenance for years guaranteed to bevel up to 46 degrees. The roller table with x-roll guide system is also popular, extremely light and precise running for sharp and precise cuts, a pleasure to work with time after time.
