Woelm GmbH

Just across the border, in the town of Heiligenhaus, stands one of Germany's leading companies in the fields of sliding hardware, window and door hardware and conveyor technology. Woelm GmbH is a welcome partner of architects, retailers and processors within the window and door industry. Under the HELM and KWS brand names, Woelm develops, manufactures and markets unique and reliable products that find their way into the construction industry worldwide.

At the helm of the company is Karl Kristian Woelm, already the fourth generation. The company has been in business since 1925 and at that time consisted of the HELM and KWS branches, later merged into Woelm GmbH in 2005. The brand names continued to be used because of the good reputation they had built up in the meantime.

Solutions 'Made in Germany'
As ever, both HELM and KWS brands guarantee to provide solutions to even the most exciting issues. This is ensured by the enormous depth of production, which ranges from in-house casting of parts to surface machining technology. Woelm operates in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2015 and also holds DIN ISO 1090 certification for steel construction in the field of conveyor technology.

A spearhead within the organization's way of working is corporate social responsibility and ecological action. This sustainable work was rewarded in fall 2016 with the ÖKOPROFIT seal of approval, along with passing the energy management audit according to DIN 50001.

Flexibility goes hand in hand with optimum quality
KWS hardware meets every need when it comes to hardware for swinging doors, entrance gates and interior applications. This applies not only to standard solutions, but certainly also to customized solutions. The KWS Modularsystem is delivered to the processor as a flexibly customizable product, which allows them to easily produce door handles made of stainless steel themselves.

Karl Kristian Woelm: "KWS products are manufactured in steel, aluminum, brass and stainless steel, with the material surface meeting the very highest standards." In addition to the proven door hardware, KWS also has a wide spectrum of handles made of wood and stainless steel, which can be flexibly customized. Woelm: "A specialty is the hardware for doors and handrails for use in hospitals. This is manufactured from an anti-bacterial alloy with a high copper content. This provides better hygiene."

Sliding door technology at its finest
Anyone looking for a sliding door profile with perfect running properties will find HELM. The brand has been at the top for more than 85 years and today offers a suitable solution for all sliding elements. Woelm on HELM: "In recent years we have seen an increase in sliding door applications in glass and wood. HELM responds to the trend with a comprehensive program of dampers, door closers, hoods and operators. HELM ensures that every sliding door is comfortable to operate."

HELM supplies a modular line of sliding door products under the name Module Konzept, which are offered as ready-made packages. A package includes rails, rollers, hardware, hanging brackets and all other items required to make a sliding door. Of course, clear assembly instructions are included. It's one-stop shopping.

The new Aluminum GT line is being received with cheers everywhere. "This line tastefully completes any sliding door in glass or wood," Woelm shares. "One can choose from wall, ceiling or glass mounting." HELM is working on the introduction of an aluminum sliding door system for door elements up to a weight of as much as 200 KG. "With this, door wings can be made even larger and it is possible to use sliding doors to create complete partitions between two rooms," Woelm said.

Transportation technology because nobility obliges
With all the expertise in sliding systems, HELM also produces systems for conveyor technology. For hanging and horizontal transport of all kinds of goods within a company, HELM offers complete solutions. From manually driven lines, to fully automatic installation, HELM is the first point of contact. "We are also happy to be a partner for building the complete system, including control technology, commissioning and maintenance," Karl Kristian Woelm concludes.
