Vlecad

Vlecad has been developing software for the interior design industry since 1987. While our initial software in the early years focused on the processing of solid wood, Korpus has been the CAD-CAM solution for cabinets as well as interior elements with sheet material since 1998. Korpus was developed entirely in-house. Every day, our programmers continue to optimize and expand this program so that we continue to meet the high expectations of our customers. Our software works for different types and brands of machines, so we can serve any interior specialist or cabinet maker.

For and by the furniture industry

Vlecad literally grew out of the furniture industry. The company was founded on April 1, 1987, by Jos Vliegen and Jacques Leen. Jos Vliegen had previously worked for years for a furniture company in Limburg, where he was responsible for operating the CNC machines. Both partners already saw a great future in machine automation and developed a CAM module with their new company to control the machinery of furniture manufacturers. This CAM module connected to the existing software CAD Key. With this in-house software development, Vlecad was the first Belgian company to develop CAD-CAM software to control machinery in the woodworking industry.

The birth of Korpus

Like other industries, the interior and cabinet sector underwent many evolutions. Instead of solid furniture, sheet metal came on strong rise starting in the second half of the 1990s.

This evolution demanded a new approach. Therefore, in 1994, Jos Schoofs joined the company as a co-partner to steer software development in the right direction. Since then, he has been the strong man behind the scenes who ensures optimal programming.

The new software was named Korpus. This CAD-CAM software was built from scratch - including the initial source code - by in-house programmers. This was the result of many decades of experience in controlling woodworking machines. Korpus offers designers endless creativity within what is constructively and technically possible.

Business acquisition by the second generation

Son Lars Vliegen had been working for Vlecad for several years when he decided to take over the business in 2016. Together with his brothers Sven and Nik - also working at Vlecad - he secured the future and brought a new dynamic. Thus, in the course of 2018, the company moved to brand new company premises - including a training center - in Bree. Vlecad now has seven specialized employees and is also looking abroad for further growth. To this end, a network of resellers is being developed worldwide.
