The bar is also set high in interior design when it comes to sustainable and circular business practices. The shared responsibility we bear for the well-being of future generations on our beautiful globe comes with choices. As an entrepreneur, what can you do to do your part and work greener? Tricky questions, some of which can be answered very easily. Especially when it comes to choosing the right paint, varnish or oil systems. Making a green choice in these will bring immediate benefits.
Companies working with ADLER's surface paint systems have already made that green choice. Over 85 years ago, Johann Berghofer laid the foundation for ADLER. Much has changed over time, but one thing has remained the same: the passion for paints and colors and the awareness to think about tomorrow today and act responsibly for the future.
ADLER stands for sustainable business with responsibility for future generations. With environmentally friendly production methods, traceable supply chains and the processing of renewable raw materials, resources are conserved. Through energy-efficient work, ADLER makes an important contribution to climate protection. Through CO2 offsetting, unavoidable emissions are offset despite intensive efforts. ADLER is one of the first companies in its industry to produce 100% climate neutrally.
Leon Cremers, director at ADLER Benelux BV says, "We have been a pioneer in environmentally friendly paint production for many years. This pronounced environmental awareness is the basis for a green paint, lacquer and oil program that we have embedded as a core component in our business strategy. Especially important for our sustainable products are responsible consumption and production, climate action and good health and well-being. Those who choose to work with ADLER GREEN products are choosing top quality combined with great social responsibility. The great thing is that the user does not have to do anything more for it than what he is good at: providing paint and spray work and finishing in oil. ADLER GREEN is thus carefree to fit into the production process and delivers a nice environmental score."
"ADLER also pays attention to a sustainable product life cycle with its green products," continued Leon. "Our sustainable products consist largely of natural materials, such as water and renewable raw materials. For example, vegetable oils or by-products from agriculture are used as binding agents instead of petroleum-based substances. In addition, ADLER tries - whenever possible - to purchase raw materials in Europe. This way we are sure of the origin and composition of the raw materials and save CO2 on transport costs."
Attention is paid to sustainable practices not only in procurement, manufacturing and production, but also in disposal: "About 25 % of total production is supplied by us in reusable packaging to avoid unnecessary waste. Many ADLER products have therefore been awarded high-quality environmental and sustainability certifications, such as the International EMAS Austrian environmental seal or the Cradle to Cradle quality seal, among others."
The most sustainable coatings in the ADLER range fall under the green sustainability label.
"ADLER has defined the UN Sustainable Development Goals as the basis for responsible behavior," continued Leon. "All products are objectively tested and certified according to three categories: environment, health & safety and longevity. Only products with a positive score in all these areas receive the green sustainability label."
At ADLER, "green" stands for an active contribution to climate protection, by using renewable instead of fossil raw materials, by reducing CO2 and VOC emissions, by having a 100 % CO2 neutral production and low resource consumption.
"Add to this the supplies of raw materials coming mainly from Europe and a high proportion of renewable raw materials. ADLER also thinks about supporting biodiversity. Products under the label are free of formaldehyde and heavy metals, contain no carcinogens and are even suitable for children's toys," Leon concludes.
