Wood is not the only material that benefits from a protective coat of lacquer or paint. Plastic can also benefit from a coating. This ensures that the surface looks nice, feels comfortable and is resistant to external influences - and that in many different colors, with high color stability. This is provided by the water-based two-pack coating Polycolor Top 2K from the Austrian paint and lacquer manufacturer ADLER.
ADLER's product range includes not only various coatings for wood and wood-based materials, but also for numerous other substrates. One example is plastics. Varnishing these is usually not easy: This is because not every varnish adheres equally well. Polycolor Top 2K from ADLER does. This water-based coating was initially developed for window frames, but has now proven itself for other applications as well. The paint creates a high-quality surface, is easy to apply and is good for the environment. This is because the coating has a very low VOC content, contains no substances harmful to the environment and health and is certified with the Cradle to Cradle seal of approval.
With the exception of PE and PP, Polycolor Top 2K is suitable for all types of plastic, including film and fiberglass-reinforced plastic. After applying only one coat, the surface is highly resistant to external influences. The coating also has high permanent elasticity, hardness and scratch resistance. The plastic is also more resistant to cleaning agents, oils and greases. This significantly increases the service life of the painted surface. "Polycolor Top 2K is not only suitable for coating door frames, thresholds, profiles and paneling, among other things, but also for coating lamps, smoke detectors and cable ducts," said Leon Cremers, director of ADLER Benelux in Heeze. "Thanks to its weather resistance, the paint can also be used outdoors, for example for garden furniture, gazebos, playground equipment and facade elements."
In terms of design, the plastic coating also offers almost unlimited possibilities: the paint is available in all RAL and NCS colors and guarantees high color stability. Especially in white, the coating comes into its own: while uncoated plastic yellows in sunlight, Polycolor Top 2K remains brilliantly white. The coating also makes the surface easier to clean and more resistant to dirt. Additional effects can be created with different structure pastes, and an anti-heat additive protects against damage and distortion. Polycolor Top 2K thus guarantees a surface of long-term high quality, and that on almost any substrate, for any application and in any color.
Polycolor Top 2K is best applied by sprayer. However, for uv lacquers applied by roller, as is often the case in furniture and interior construction, ADLER also has an alternative. This is because with the Innolux Haftpromotor, the highly reactive high-solid UV paints from ADLER's Innolux series can also be applied to all common types of plastic without any problems. The Innolux Haftpromotor ensures excellent adhesion and a surface with high chemical and mechanical resistance.
