Sister of famous oil earns platform

When the name Rubio Monocoat comes to mind, interior designers almost immediately think of its flagship product, Rubio® Monocoat Oil Plus 2C. However, the company also makes a stand-alone lacquer, intended for the ultimate untreated look. Branch manager Sjoerd Bos: "We stand for our oil, but thanks to our Rubio Monocoat Invisible Protector, our customers can turn to one address for all finishing products."

Why would furniture makers choose lacquer when Rubio® Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is such a good product? According to Bos, this is a matter of taste. "Oil soaks into the pores of the wood, therefore the wood always darkens slightly while the lacquer forms a layer over the surface. This guarantees an untreated look, even with light and dark colors." Important to know: Rubio Monocoat Invisible Protector is a stand alone product, which does not apply over the oil
can be applied. 

Part of sustainability efforts

The Invisible Protector is not a new product, but an established part of the Rubio Monocoat range. "Oil is always at the heart of our business, but we are also proud of our lacquer. This is in fact a sister to Rubio® Monocoat Oil Plus 2C. The product is based on vegetable resin and thus an all-natural product, just like the oils. This fits in with our commitment to provide only sustainable products." 

The paint is applied in three coats and, according to Bos, has low consumption (12m2/L per coat), also the product is very abrasion resistant. The drying time between coats is 3-4 hours and after the last coat 16-24 hours. As already mentioned, the lacquer cannot be combined with Rubio® Monocoat Oil Plus 2C. However, a combination with Rubio Monocoat Pre-Aging is possible. This non-reactive water-based pretreatment, which is available in ten colors, gives a new floor an old look. Rubio Monocoat Invisible Protector does not change this color.
